INN3162C-H102-TL is a high frequency, high voltage DC-DC offline switcher introduced by Richtek which has zero-current transition features, adjustable operating frequency and low power losses. It is used in consumer electronics such as notebook computers, monitors, and TV sets, as well as in automotive systems such as engine control computers, navigation systems, lighting and home automation.The INN3162C-H102-TL is a double-ended, current-mode PWM controller that utilizes an external MOSFET switches in a buck topology. It has integrated low-side and high-side MOSFETs, utilizing an active OR-ing. This device also has a high operating frequency, supporting a switching frequency range from 600 kHz to 1 MHz depending on the application. For instance, high frequency operation can reduce the size of external components such as inductors, capacitors and transformers for portable and battery-powered applications. The operating principle of the INN3162C-H102-TL is rather simple. It uses a current-mode PWM controller to control the buck converter. The switch turns on and off in an interval regulated by the output voltage and is enabled for a certain period of time in order to regulate the output voltage. The duration of the switch turn on and off time is determined by the output voltage and is determined by the current sense voltage. The input voltage is connected to VIN terminal and the output voltage is connected to VOUT.
