The IP4251CZ8-4-TTL,13 EMI/RFI Filter is a four-lead single-stage filter for use in Telecommunication Equipment (TEE) applications. It is an analog filter with low pass and high pass sections, featuring a ground return path running through a third terminal. The common mode filter attenuates electromagnetic interference and radio frequency interference by acting as a high impedance barrier between the power supply and the circuit, thus limiting the noise that enters the power supply side.
When enabled, the filter reduces EMI/RFI by increasing the impedance of the path between the power line and the ground. The filter acts as a small capacitor between the power line and the ground, and when the power line voltage changes, the current is diverted to the ground, which in turn acts as a low pass filter. The capacitive reactance of the filter creates an impedance that decreases with the frequency of the noise, filtering out the high frequency interference and allowing only the lower frequency signals to pass through.
The common-mode filter also works in the opposite direction, blocking noise from entering the circuit from the power line.
