The IP4285CZ6-TD,125 is a general–purpose, high-performance TVS diode suitable for a wide range of applications. This article will discuss the application field and working principle of the IP4285CZ6-TD,125. The IP4285CZ6-TD,125 can protect sensitive electronics and systems against high voltage transients, like ESD (Electrostatic Discharge), EFT (Electrical Fast Transient), lightning and inductive switching. It is especially useful in applications with high dynamic noise or impedance. It is designed to offer low capacitance and fast response time in high temperature applications. The IP4285CZ6-TD,125 can be used in consumer electronics, as well as medical, automotive, industrial and communications equipment.The working principle of the IP4285CZ6-TD,125 is based on the Zener Breakdown Effect. When this diode is exposed to a voltage higher than its breakdown voltage, the electrons in the device are accelerated as they propagate through the device’s PN junction and collide with the lattice structure of the material. The collisions create electron-hole pairs that cause a buildup of charge. The charge build-up creates an avalanche effect at the junction, leading to a breakdown and a high current flow. The IP4285CZ6–TD,125 has a breakdown voltage of 7V and a maximum reverse leakage current of 5 μA.The IP4285CZ6-TD,125 also features a Low Capacitance technology. This technology provides faster response time and ensures that the device responds as quickly as possible to overvoltage transients. The IP4285CZ6–TD,125 is also designed with a Human Body Mode (HBM) rating of 2000 V, which provides electrical protection from ESD discharges along approximately 10 7 ohms. The IP4285CZ6–TD,125 is certified to AEC-Q101 and widely available in 5.6 x 4.3 x 1.1 mm surface mount packages.
