Thyristors, also known as silicon controlled rectifiers (SCRs) are three terminal solid state devices which act as a switch in electronic circuits. Each thyristor consists of a gate terminal, an anode terminal, and a cathode terminal. When a certain voltage is applied at the gate terminal of a thyristor, it enables the flow of current passing between the anode and cathode without any further external gate control. Therefore, the thyristors are extensively used to control the flow of high current with low power signals.
IRKH56/04A is a basic thyristor module designed for low-voltage applications such as industrial drive circuits, motor control circuits, and power supplies. It is composed of two SCR components and a heat sink, featuring a minimum breakdown voltage of 600V and a maximum forward current of 64A.
IRKH56/04A thyristor modules are based on a hybrid intrablock. On this module, two SCRs are connected in series inside a ceramic case mounted on a copper heat sink.
