Thyristors are devices that control the flow of electrical signals in an alternating current circuit. They do so by providing the switch, or “gate”, through which the current can pass.

One type of thyristor is the Silicon-Controlled Rectifier (SCR) or thyristor module. The IRKT136/14 is a type of SCR that is used in many applications by both industrial and consumer markets.

In general, SCRs are two-layer semiconductor devices which can be configured to open, close, or adjust the flow of current in a circuit.
