The IRS2011PBF is a high-performance gate driver integrated circuit that is part of the PMIC – Gate Drivers. It is designed for the easy and direct drive of IGBTs (insulated gate bipolar transistors) with the objectives of achieving very low power losses and low EMI (electromagnetic interference) levels.

The IRS2011PBF contains two high current level shift paths, each featuring independent reverse polarity protection, a reference voltage generator, a voltage regulator and a comparator. The IRS2011PBF also contains a low voltage (DIGITAL_VIN) level shift path with independent reversed polarity protection and a reference voltage generator. Both outputs of the IRS2011PBF can be configured as N-channel MOSFET, P-channel MOSFET, N-channel IGBT, or P-channel IGBT, providing great versatility and an optimized solution that meets the widest range of applications.

The IRS2011PBF gate driver can be used for driving both high-side and low-side IGBTs. This feature enables a number of potential circuit configurations that can offer improved performance and power savings. For example, the integrated level shift paths on the IRS2011PBF can drive two IGBTs, eliminating the need for external drivers.

The IRS2011PBF features an internal voltage regulator, allowing it to be powered from a 9V to 32 V voltage source and converting it to the appropriate level for driving IGBTs. This feature is extremely convenient, as it eliminates the need for external level shifting circuitry. The voltage regulator is also protected against current and voltage overloads, providing additional reliability.

The IRS2011PBF has an adjustable reference voltage generator power supply, allowing it to be used in a wide range of applications, such as driving IGBTs in motor control circuits, and it is capable of supporting IGBTs up to 80A. The integrated comparator on the IRS2011PBF can be used to detect when the IGBTs reach their maximum current or voltage levels and generate a logic level warning signal, alerting the user and providing a safeguard against potential problems.

The IRS2011PBF offers high frequency operation up to 10MHz, ensuring low switching losses, reducing the EMI and providing reliable operation at high switching speeds.
