The ISL37231DRAZ-TS is an optical transceiver module with integrated driver, transimpedance amplifier, and laser diode. It operates in compliance with IEEE 802.3z 1000BASE-T, 100BASE-T, 10BASE-T and other Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) data rates. The module supports direct conversion system architectures for fast time-to-market and optical link launch.

The ISL37231DRAZ-TS is a collaborative product of Intersil Corporation and Thorlabs, Inc. Intersil’s O/E hybrid optical technology combines 20+ years of experience in optoelectronic products, with Thorlabs’ proven multi-channel multiplexing technology. The driver, transimpedance amplifier and laser diode are all integrated into a single surface-mount device that is housed in a small package (11.5 x 8.2mm) that fits within tight space constraints.

At the heart of the module is a high performance, low power, optical driver IC. This driver IC offers excellent signal fidelity with low distortion at the data output of the module. The module also features high speed, low power transimpedance amplifiers, integrated laser diode, and high frequency filters. These features provide excellent signal integrity, high performance, and make the ISL37231DRAZ-TS an ideal solution for 1000BASE-T and other LDPC-based applications.

The integrated laser diode of the ISL37231DRAZ-TS has an output power range of 28nm - 24nm (850nm - 1300nm), depending on optical transceiver type. The laser diode provides the electrical energy needed to drive optical data across the link. The transimpedance amplifiers are used to convert the electrical signal back into the optical data stream. The high frequency filters are used to prevent spurious signals from entering the system.

The ISL37231DRAZ-TS also features an integrated dynamic skew correction and an adjustable output power control. The dynamic skew correction allows the module to compensate for time-whitening noise encountered on optical links, providing improved signal integrity. The adjustable output power control allows the user to fine tune the output power level of the laser diode to ensure desired performance.
