ISL6258HRTZ-T is a highly accurate, dual-channel, synchronous battery charger controller with charge current and charge voltage monitoring. It is specifically developed for tablet and laptop battery applications. It offers the most advanced, high power, high fidelity charging solution for Lithium-ion, Lithium-polymer and other battery chemistries. The ISL6258HRTZ-T device contains two charge channels, each with independent charge current and charge voltage settings. Each of these channels can be independently configured to provide the optimal configuration and power delivery for any type of battery pack. It also includes an internal oscillator for timing the charging and discharging cycles, as well as an external synchronization pin for synchronizing with an external system before beginning the charging process. When the battery voltage reaches within 0.1V (or less) of the charger setting voltage, the ISL6258HRTZ-T will switch to a constant voltage charging mode and maintain the voltage at a fixed level. This constant voltage charging mode will gradually increase the charge current until the battery reaches a full charge.The ISL6258HRTZ-T works in both a battery and charger combo with integrated power MOSFETs, as well as in a standalone charger application with an external power MOSFET. When used as a combo with integrated power MOSFETs, the charge current and charge voltage settings are preset and it controls the switching of the power MOSFETs to regulate the charge current and protect the battery from overcharging. In a standalone charger, the external power MOSFET switches are controlled by the ISL6258HRTZ-T pins, so the charge current and charge voltage settings can be programmed.The ISL6258HRTZ-T is a powerful and versatile battery charger controller that is suitable for a wide variety of applications.
