ISL6420IRZ is a switch mode DC-DC controller integrated circuit (IC) designed to provide an efficient, economic, and low-noise power supply design solution for applications ranging from mobile, handheld, and computer applications to automotive, industrial, and medical subsystems. It provides full fledged protection against overcurrent, overvoltage, and under voltage by integrating both the switch mode power supply (SMPS) and the linear regulator integrated circuits.The ISL6420IRZ can be pulse frequency modulated (PFM) or pulse width modulation (PWM) controlled with the selectable hysteresis, which can be adjusted by external resistors. The device operates over a wide range of input and output voltages, making it versatile and meeting the requirements of many applications. The integrated features of the device enables it to output regulated voltage even under high noise conditions and reduce the power consumption required to achieve a regulated output voltage, due to its low operating current.The ISL6420IRZ has a soft start circuit, which is programmable with an external capacitor and ensures a smooth start up without causing inrush current that would cause current surges or inductor saturation.
