The ISL6526CB is a DC DC switching controller that is specifically designed to provide high power conversion efficiency and reliable performance in a wide variety of portable and distributed power native applications. It is a highly efficient, low voltage, synchronous PMIC (Power Management Integrated Circuit) with an integrated buck controller and current-mode control that offers an adjustable switching frequency between 200kHz and 1.2MHz. ISL6526CB operates in Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) and Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) to suit different applications and it also includes an integrated over current comparator and protection circuit to safeguard the system against under and over current conditions.

Typical applications for the ISL6526CB include point-of-load (POL) power supplies, as well as multiple DC-motor, solenoid and relay drives. This PMIC can also be used for powering and managing digital signal processors, ASICs, and FPGAs with complex load requirements from lower voltage systems, such as 48V input applications and home audio systems with multiple power supplies.

The ISL6526CB DC DC switching controller is comprised of an integrated current-mode buck controller, oscillator, over-current protection, soft-start logic and a power MOSFET. It comes in a 10-pin µMAX package and it operates over a wide input voltage range from 4.5V to 21V. The maximum output current capability is 7A and the maximum peak current is 15A. The output voltage can range from 0.6V to 15V, with adjustable output voltage and over-current protection.

The ISL6526CB uses the current mode control to improve response to load transients and offers adjustable switching frequency between 200kHz to 1.2MHz. The integrated mute function allows the controller to enter an ultra-low power mode, eliminating noise and unwanted signals during shutdown.
