Working Principle

The Intersil linker and the output voltage adjustment pot form a voltage divider network, which allows the output voltage to be adjusted over a wide range through manual adjustment. The ISL8240M controller uses a unique high-efficiency current mode control scheme with valley-switching technology, that allows it to achieve high efficiency even at light load or no load conditions. It also incorporates an internal zero-voltage soft-start circuit which gradually increases the output voltage shortly after the supply is powered on, avoiding any sudden surges to the output. The soft-start can also be externally triggered using an I2C interface, eliminating the need for an external soft-start circuit.
