ISL84052IA is an integrated analog signal switch specially designed for use in communications, wireless communication, computer/peripheral and medical applications. It supports variety of audio, video, data and other signal types, and provides an array of features to ensure optimal application performance. ISL84052IA is part of Intersil\'s series of low-power analog switches, multiplexers, and demultiplexers.

ISL84052IA is based on switch elements from Silicon Labs and is rated for a wide range of applications with total of five switches per package. The device supports two independent channel enables for added flexibility in controlling switch functions. It is also able to isolate up to 8 channels with separate supply and ground planes for applications such as board-to-board communication links, or to route signals with no ground loops. Furthermore, the ISL84052IA also offers a low charge injection, low on resistance and low off leakage—all of which are important requirements for switching analog signals. Additionally, the device’s wide operational voltage range ensures compatibility with a variety of applications, while its low power operation ensures efficient system power savings.

ISL84052IA’s working principle is simple. The device can be characterized as an \'open-drain switch’, meaning that it operates by allowing voltage to be conducted only to the ground. There are four analog inputs and one reference input. A logical input controls the switching circuit to connect any of the four analog inputs to the reference input. When the switch is opened, the output is "floating" and no connection is made.
