PMIC Gate Drivers are components that provide low on resistance which allow for easy switching of power loads. The ISL89401AR3Z is a high-voltage integrated power N-channel MOSFET and Schottky diode driver for industrial automation, lighting and start-stop applications. Working Principle of the ISL89401AR3Z

The ISL89401AR3Z gate driver features a high-side and a low-side gate driver to minimize cross-conduction. The series operates by providing discrete voltage signals into the Gate pin of the MOSFET which is supported by an adjustable under-voltage lockout, over-current protection, thermal shutdown, and a small RDS(on), ensuring low heat dissipation and reduced risk of overtemperature.

The driver also features built-in diagnostic features. The integrated fault signal output pin allows monitoring of the driver status in real-time and the thermal derating monitoring for preventing driver over-temperature.

ISL89401AR3Z also offers excellent start-up behaviour, including pre-biasing of the power MOSFETs and special Schottky diode drive. This prevents dV/dt noise from the switching power MOSFETs and reduces EMI caused by the switching of the power MOSFETs.
