The ISL97900-CRZ-EVALZ Evaluation Board is designed to provide an ideal platform for evaluating and demonstrating the performance of Renesas’ ISL97900 LED Driver.
The Evaluation Board is capable of driving up to 30 LED channels in any combination of linear, constant current, and adjustable modes. The board continues to provide the flexibility of options for powering both types of devices from the same board to suit specific applications. On the board, 0.750 inch (19mm) diameter SMD LEDs are used.
The board features several features that aid in the development and testing of LED drivers. A push button on the board provides user control of the LED states. Three different current settings levels can be set by an external potentiometer.
In addition, the Evaluation Board includes an array of 12 jumper pins that can be used to configure the device’s current levels, pulse width modulation (PWM) control, and operation modes. This enables a wide variety of test configurations to meet the requirements of specific applications. It also features a differential interface for connecting a PC to the board for further programmability.
The main purpose of the Evaluation Board is to evaluate the performance of Renesas’ ISL97900 LED Driver. It allows engineers to evaluate different performance attributes of the device including its dimming capabilities, noise immunity, robustness against EMI, power efficiency, and temperature stability. In addition, the board can be used for demonstration and evaluation of application specific functionality of the device.
The ISL97900-CRZ-EVALZ Evaluation Board is designed with an on-board controller to facilitate testing and evaluation of the LED drivers. This controller is integrated on the same PCB as the ISL97900, which allows the user to make various configuration changes as well as adjustments in the device easily with the help of a ribbon cable and a set of jumpers. This controller also provides a convenient way of controlling the LED driver, allowing the user to switch the LED channels off or on and power cycle the LED driver. Additionally, the LED driver can be configured to operate with various operation modes, such as linear, step, constant current, or PWM.
The evaluation board is connected to a PC through the USB interface, and the evaluation results can be accessed from the PC. The Renesas PC interface program that is included with the board allows the user to measure and analyze information such as the LED current, voltage, and temperature in real-time for detailed analysis. Moreover, the user can also program any specific configurations desired for testing and evaluation of the LED driver.
The Evaluation Board is designed to operate ranging from 0 deg C to 50 deg C and from -40 deg C to 125 deg C (T J ) environment conditions. It can operate on 12V to 13.2V DC input voltage and provide 1.5A peak current with a maximum efficiency of up to 90%. It offers a maximum data rate of 1Mb/s in PWM mode.
