The ISP817XSM is a linear optocoupler that utilizes a GaA/As-infrared-LED as its coupled emitter-follower output. It is a light-activated switching device, designed for high-speed, digital signal isolation purposes. This optoisolator offers excellent performance with good linearity over a wide dynamic range, due to its wide operating temperature range. Furthermore, it is suitable for both analog and digital communications.
The device is packaged in a compact 8-pin DIP, is easy to interface with, and is optimized for switching speed and low power consumption. It is very low noise and is suited for high-fidelity audiophile systems. From a transistor photovoltaic output perspective, the ISP817XSM uses a photocoupler containing an LED and a phototransistor to isolate the input circuit from the output circuit. When a sufficient amount of light is produced by the LED, it is converted into electrical current by the phototransistor, which then flows through the output circuit.
The main application areas for the ISP817XSM include: automotive systems; appliance control systems; industrial automation applications; medical equipment; consumer electronic applications; and instrumentation control.
