Working Principle

When the gate driver IC is enabled, the enabled gate driver input pin is connected to the gate of a MOSFET or IGBT power switch through an opto-isolator. The circuit is designed so that when the enable/disable pin is at logic 1, the current sensing circuit is disabled, allowing the gate driver IC to control the gate of the power switch freely. In case of a fault, the enable/disable pin will quickly turn off the gate driver IC, thus preventing damage to the power switch.
