J110 is a type of junction field-effect transistor (JFET), which is a type of field-effect transistor (FET). The J110 is a n–channel enhancement-mode device, constructed using semiconductor materials such as silicon and gallium arsenide. This device uses a source and a drain terminal that are connected to two different substrates and has three distinctive terminals active at any one time. These terminals are known as the gate, source, and drain.
The operation of a J110 is based on the principle of semiconductor doping. Basically, doping refers to the incorporation of a foreign particle into a semiconductor material to increase its electrical conductivity.
