Thyristors are semiconductor devices that can only allow electric current in one direction, commonly referred to as a unidirectional current device. One particular type of thyristor is the K2400GAP application field and working principle.
K2400GAPs are a type of silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) specifically designed for automotive use. They are designed to be used in applications where current levels are too low for traditional thyristors. They are also particularly useful for controlling currents in automotive alternators, starter solenoids and other starter systems.
The K2400GAP\'s working principle is simple. It is designed to use the charge of a diode to control the switching on and off of an SCR. When the SCR is turned on, it emits a start signal, which is sensed by the K2400GAP. Once the start signal is sensed, the K2400GAP then sends the necessary current to the SCR to keep it switched on. Then, when the SCR turns off, the K2400GAP will wait for the SCR to start again and repeat the process.
The K2400GAP also features two DIACs (Diode-Acditron) which are used for more precise control of the current. The DIACs are connected to the SCR in parallel with the K2400GAP, and are used for more accurate and repeatable control of the SCR\'s switching on and off. The DIAC\'s electrical properties allow them to act like a capacitor, storing charge which can then be used to control the SCR.
The K2400GAP also features two SIDACs (Silicon-Controlled Rectifier Arrays). As with the DIACs, the SIDACs are connected in parallel with the K2400GAP and used for more precise control of the SCR\'s switching on and off. The SIDACs are designed to act like a miniature SCR, allowing them to provide the same control that a traditional SCR can provide, but at a much lower cost.
The K2400GAP is an ideal choice for automotive applications. It is designed to provide the same level of control as traditional thyristors, but at a much lower cost. It is also much more efficient than traditional thyristors and is able to maintain switching frequencies over a wide range of temperatures. In addition, it is well suited to applications where current levels are too low for traditional thyristors.
