KITMPL115A1EVB Application Field and Working Principle

Working Principle
The KITMPL115A1EVB digital barometer is based on the MPL115A1 sensor, a low-cost, low power, high accuracy, monolithic pressure sensor. The barometer uses a MEMS capacitive pressure sensor and the signal is conditioned by an on-board analog IC. The board also features a 3.3V voltage regulator, an analog to digital converter and a USB interface.
The board has two operating modes: Polling and Interrupt. The Polling mode is active when the board is connected to a USB host and the board continuously samples the pressure, providing a data stream to the receiver and plotted in a graph. The Interrupt mode is primarily used as an event-triggered mode, in which the barometer sends out a signal to the USB host based upon a set pressure threshold.
KITMPL115A1EVB also has high accuracy even when used in an OEM system. The error range is within ±0.5 hPa or ±2.5%. Additionally, it has a temperature coefficient of 0.5%/°C. The barometer offers stable operation up to 3.6V while drawing a power of 400μA from a 3V battery.
The KITMPL115A1EVB evaluation board is an ideal solution for industrial and commercial pressure sensing applications. It offers a wide range of pressure environments and abilities, as well as two programmable operating modes.
