The KSZ9031RNXVA-TR is an integrated, low-power Ethernet physical layer transceiver solution targeted for 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX applications. This device integrates full-duplex media access control (MAC) and physical layer (PHY) functionality for both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX applications on a single chip. As part of the KSZ9031RNX line, it is designed to be used in a wide range of applications, such as Network Interface Card (NIC), Network Connections, Multimedia or Voice Over IP (VoIP) systems, and router or switch modules.
The KSZ9031RNXVA-TR is an ideal solution for communications-oriented designs that need to combine high performance, scalability, flexibility, and low electromagnetic emissions (EMI). It is an advanced, performance-enhanced CMOS-based transceiver designed to perform physical interface between twisted-pair 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX specialized networks. Furthermore, this transceiver is also backward-compatible with existing 10 Mbps systems, and it supports HP Auto-MDIX (automatically detecting polarity and cabling), and low power consumption. It features low EMI and high noise immunity along with in-band LED fault sensing and dynamic cable length sensing and equalization.
The KSZ9031RNXVA-TR interface has an integrated physical coding sublayer (PCS) and PMA sublayer for full-duplex communications in both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX networks. The internal PCS sublayer is designed to comply with the requirements set forth by the IEEE802.3z specification. Its MAC provides several options to configure the speed and operation mode of the transceiver in full-duplex mode. In addition, the PMA sublayer contains a receive signal equalizer, a scrambler, and a self-adaptive pulse-shaping filter to ensure maximal signal integrity and minimal jitter in the communication links.
The transmitter in the KSZ9031RNXVA-TR operates in full-duplex mode and provides high-speed data transmission up to 100 Mbps. It supports programmable transmit line coding and a built-in adaptive digital-to-analog (D/A) converter. The receive path includes a low-power digital receiver that can detect and re-construct data from both 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX channels. Furthermore, it has a DSP-based digital timing receiver/demodulator that can handle most types of digital signaling formats and modulations.
