The L4940V85 is the latest addition to STMicroelectronics’ portfolio of voltage regulators and has been designed to provide linear voltage regulation in a wide range of applications. The device is a versatile low-dropout regulator (LDO) that is designed to operate from input voltages up to 285V, and is capable of providing a constant output voltage with adjustable ±2% accuracy. Thanks to its low quiescent current of only 2mA, operation of the device can be automated and still provide minimal power consumption.
The L4940V85 is suitable for a variety of applications, including hot-swap and step-down or step-up power supply design, or for the protection of sensitive circuits and chip-on-board modules. It provides rail clamping protection, which makes it particularly suitable for automotive applications and power circuits, and provides adjustable current limit protection.
