LAN9118-MT is a member of the LAN9118 Gigabit Ethernet controller family. This Single-Chip Device is optimized for providing Gigabit Ethernet performance in applications requiring minimal power consumption, small profile, and maximum integration. It is ideal for use in embedded systems. The LAN9118-MT features a 32-bit Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) microprocessor, together with an integrated 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet media access controller (MAC), and two Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) ports.

The LAN9118-MT works based on an intelligent hardware implementation. It is designed to take the burden off the host processor, thus allowing for minimal host power consumption and increased overall system performance. The device has a 32-bit ARM® Cortex™-M3 microprocessor core, which reduces the overhead of the host processor to process the Ethernet packet, while providing a high throughput. The optimized and pipelined architecture of the LAN9118-MT enables a low latency, high-performance design in which packet processing is completed faster. The LAN9118-MT also has three separate interrupt lines and eight independent DMA channels, allowing for efficient transfer of data between the host processor and the device.

In terms of hardware integration and power efficiency, the LAN9118-MT is an ideal solution for embedded applications. The device is an ideal fit for applications that need to deliver high performance and low power consumption such as mobile phones, tablets, embedded networking, home automation, and industrial control systems.
