Aluminium electrolytic capacitors are polarized electrolytic capacitors, using an aluminum foil covered with an insulating oxide layer anode as the anode. The aluminum foil is etched to form a number of parallel plates, and the oxide film formed at the same time acts as an electrolyte and dielectric. A cathode of paper or other suitable material provides the electrical connection between both plates. LAQ2D181MELZ25 is an aluminum electrolytic capacitor consisting of a cylindrical aluminum shell, a cathode of paper, two plastic end caps and an electrolyte between them. The insulating casing is sealed and connected to the positive pole of the capacitor, and the other part to the negative. The aluminum shell of the capacitor acts as the anode plate and is formed by folding a sheet of aluminum coated with an insulating oxide. The two end caps are made of a special plastic material, which is both resistant to the capacitor electrolyte and to high temperatures.
