LD1085D2T-R is a 3 terminal adjustable regulator designed to provide an output voltage adjustable around 2.85V. The device incorporates internal current limiting, thermal shut down and safe operating area protection so that only the external circuitry limiting and radial components are necessary. LD1085D2T-R device offers improved transient response and provides superior load and line regulation making them ideal for high performance applications. Working Principal of LD1085D2T-R

The LD1085D2T-R consists of three terminals – Input, Output, and Adjustment. The Input terminal (VIN) is connected to the power source which supplies regulated voltage. The Output terminal (VOUT) generates the regulated output voltage. The adjustment terminal (ADJ) is used to vary the output voltage. By applying external feedback and increasing the output voltage, a linear regulator works in a closed-loop control system.

The Input voltage is regulated by varying the output voltage. In the presence of an overload or load changes, the Output voltage from the regulator will change. This is done by using an internal focusing error amplifier to compare the output voltage against an internal reference voltage. If a difference is detected the output voltage is adjusted to match the reference voltage. This process is repeated until the error amplifier return the output voltage and reference voltage in balance.
