The output voltage is determined with the relative status of the FB(Feedback) pin and the internal reference, when FB pin is higher than the reference voltage, error amplifier will output an increasing voltage which will be output through the NPN transistor and make the voltage of the output node higher until the FB pin is equal to the reference voltage, at this status, the output voltage is determined. Typically, this linear voltage regulator requires two external resistors to set the output voltage, the internal current flowing through those two external resistors will work as a current source to set the output voltage.
