LDK320AM36R is a linear voltage regulator designed by Vishay Semiconductor. It is a member of Vishay\'s LDK Super-NMOS family of linear voltage regulators. LDK320AM36R provides very low dropout voltage, high current operation, high operating frequency, and very low quiescent current. It is available in both surface mount and through-hole packages. LDK320AM36R is the ideal choice for applications such as portable electronic devices, digital still cameras, video cameras, audio amplifiers, and automotive applications.
Application Field
The LDK320AM36R is a very efficient, high performance linear voltage regulator, suitable for adjustable and/or fixed output voltage applications. It is designed to provide a powerful, stable, and efficient voltage regulation solution for heavy load applications, up to 1.5A. The device has low quiescent current, low dropout voltage and high operating frequency, making it ideal for very low current and high speed applications. Furthermore, LDK320AM36R is compatible with a wide range of input voltages. The device can be used to convert many different source voltages, including 12V, 24V, 36V, 48V, 60V and beyond.
Working Principle
LDK320AM36R is based on a traditional linear topology. It uses a P-channel Super-NMOS transistor as the pass element. This transistor offers very low and constant ON resistance, good switching behavior and high current capability. The device has a limited output impedance, providing good regulation even at high frequencies. In addition, it achieves very low dropout voltage and offers a very low quiescent current, ensuring reliability and efficiency over the long-term.
The control of output voltage is done through a resistor divider. The resistor divider converts the desired output voltage into a reference voltage at the device’s FB pin. The FB pin is connected to the gate of the P-Channel Super-NMOS transistor, setting the device’s output voltage. A wide range of input voltage and output voltage can be achieved by varying both the upper and lower resistor.
The device also includes an offset adjust pin which can be used to fine-tune the output voltage. The offset adjust pin is connected to the gates of all the transistor’s in the voltage regulator. When the offset adjust pin is variably adjusted, the total voltage drop across the regulator will be increased or decreased. This enables precise control of the output voltage.
LDK320AM36R also has two output pins, TOF and T1F, which can be used for load-sharing. By connecting the TOF and T1F pins together, two LDK320AM36Rs can be connected together in parallel, providing a higher output current capability.
In summary, the LDK320AM36R is a very efficient linear voltage regulator, capable of delivering up to 1.5A of output current.
