LG Electronics’ LGJ2D561MELC20 AEC provides an ultra small, extremely reliable energy storage solution for a variety of applications, such as mobile phones, digital cameras, medical devices and gaming consoles. It boasts a wide range of features, including a wide operating temperature range (-40 to +105°C). With a high capacitance of 560uF, this AEC is suited for applications requiring larger capacitance values.Working Principle
Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors are constructed from three basic components: an anode, a cathode, and a non-conductive electrolyte. The anode is made of aluminum foil that is coated with oxide, and the cathode is made of aluminum foil that is coated with an organic solvent. The non-conductive electrolyte fills the gap between two electrodes. The LG Electronics LGJ2D561MELC20 AEC operates using two electrochemical processes- Faradaic and Non-Faradaic. InFaradaic processes the current is flowing from anode to cathode by alteration of electron transfer through the oxide film. In Non-Faradaic processes the current flows from anode to cathode without any electron transfer. The electrolyte used in AECs is usually a solution containing boric acid, lithium chloride, and oxidizing agents such as potassium hydroxide. These electrolytes form an electrical double layer that acts as an insulator.When the AEC is connected in an electronic circuit, a voltage is applied and a currentflow through the AEC, resulting in an increase in the capacitor’s capacitance. As the capacitance increases, the voltage across the capacitor increases, and the current decreases. This phenomenon is known as self-discharge of the capacitor. This current allows the capacitor to maintain its charge even when the circuit is not powered.Conclusion
