Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are used predominantly in applications where large capacitance values, compact size, and low cost are equally important. These capacitors consist of two aluminum foil plates separated by an electrolyte that acts as the dielectric material. An LGU1E153MELB aluminum electrolytic capacitor, like other capacitors, is intended to store electrical energy to be used and released as needed. When current is supplied to the capacitor, the plates act as a pump for storage and release of energy.The basic operating principle of an LGU1E153MELB aluminum electrolytic capacitor is similar to other types of capacitors. When electric current is supplied, the porous dielectric material acts as a valve, allowing the electrons to pass between the two anode and cathode plates of the capacitor. As current passes through the capacitor, a voltage gradient is produced across the two plates, which stores electrical energy. When the current flow is reversed, the energy stored is released.The advantage of this type of capacitor over other types is its ability to store up to twice the electrical energy of a ceramic or film capacitor of the same size and voltage rating. Additionally, when compared to other capacitors of a similar size and value, the LGU1E153MELB aluminum electrolytic capacitor has a much greater temperature stability and lower ESR (equivalent series resistance).Common applications for the LGU1E153MELB aluminum electrolytic capacitor include power supply units, DC-DC converters, and other power applications. It can also be used as an input or output filter capacitor to reduce noise, improve waveform stability, and improve waveform accuracy. Additionally, it can be used for improving the load dump protection performance of power supply units.
