Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are a type of capacitor that uses aluminum oxide as a dielectric material and an electrolyte-filled aluminum foil as a pair of electrodes. They are also known as aluminum electrochemical capacitors, aluminum electrolytic capacitors and electrolytic capacitors. LGU2A182MELA capacitors are polarized aluminum electrolytic capacitors with a rated voltage of 1800Vdc. They have a low equivalent series resistance, high insulation resistance and low leakage current.
The construction of LGU2A182MELA capacitors consists of an electrolytic anode and cathode foil that are separated by non-ionized interlayer and an insulating paper. For the anode foil, a special aluminum anode designed with an ultra-thin membrane using electrolytic oxidation is used. This allows charge to accumulate heavily in the anode and creates a high capacitance. The cathode structure is printed with a conductive film and a special bending treatment, which increases its surface area and reduces electromagnetic interference.
LGU2A182MELA capacitors use a particular working principle, namely polarization. Due to the potential of the anode-cathode junction, after a certain dc voltage is added, a two-layer migrating charge layer is formed at the oxide film and the barrier on the surface of the oxide film acts as an insulating film. With an increase in dc voltage, the charge on the oxide film increases, resulting in more insulation and a more stable capacitor-like behaviour. In this way, an electric field is generated between the two electrodes, allowing the stored capacitance to increase.
LGU2A182MELA capacitors have a range of applications, such as energy storage, power filters, input filters, EMC filters and noise suppression. They are especially well-suited for high-voltage, high-current applications and are able to handle high operating temperatures, up to 105°C. They are also particularly well-suited for situations where a lower equivalent series resistance is needed or where space is limited and a small package size is desired.
