Solid State Relays (SSRs) are electronic switching devices which are used in place of the oldcontrol circuit electromechanical contactors for the control of electrical circuits. Traditional electromechanical contactors have a few limitations such as frequent arcing, physical wear and tear due to contact pressure, long switching time, etc. SSRs have several advantages compared to their mechanical counterparts since they operate by using solid-state electronic switching elements such as thyristors, MOSFETs, Triacs, etc. SSRs are used in many different control applications which require reliable and accurate switching ofac circuits.
