LM22673EVAL/NOPB is an evaluation, alternative, and general-purpose board for an industry leading synchronous step-down switch mode power supply (SMPS) referred to as a ‘Super-Switcher™’. As the world’s first integrated SMPS controller and driver, the LM22673EVAL/NOPB is the ideal choice for defining the optimal power supply design. Especially when directing the latest advances in energy efficiency and power density performance. The LM22673EVAL/NOPB application field is mainly centered around offline AC/DC applications. These mostly apply to applications such as mobile phone chargers, LED drivers, ad-networks, computer graphics cards, tablets, POS terminals, industrial PCs, smart TV sets, etc. The board is richly equipped with features necessary in the development of DC/DC switched mode power supplies. These features include integrated boost and dual-phase interleaved PWM controllers, low profile inductors, a variety of smd capacitors, a high frequency, metal-alloy planar transformer, as well as various protections that ensure a reliable and safe power supply. The LM22673EVAL/NOPB is designed to operate at high efficiency under full load. Using the LM22673E SMPS controller and driver, the board is capable of operating in buck or boost configurations with programmable ideal diode capability. It also supports dual-phase interleaving for large spread load applications with up to 6-phase paralleling to support higher current, allowing for decreased output inductance and further improved efficiency. The working principle of the LM22673EVAL/NOPB is based on the same principles as other types of SMPS. It converts power using an input source, usually a mains power supply or battery, into a regulated output voltage. The LM22673EVAL/NOPB also features a low standby power consumption level, making it an ideal solution for energy efficient applications. The LM22673E consists of two stages, the power-stage converter and the control-stage converter. The power stage utilizes boost converter topology, allowing the controller to start from the input voltage, and step up the voltage to a level that can drive the output stage. The output stage then uses the buck converter to step down the converted output voltage to the desired output voltage. The control circuit then adjusts the pulse width modulation (PWM) to keep the output voltage at the required level.Ensuring safety and reliability, the LM22673EVAL/NOPB utilizes a range of integrated protections, including under-voltage lockout (UVLO), over-voltage lockout (OVLO), over current protection (OCP) and open loop protection (OLP). These functions protect the board from excessive current, as well as from the output going either too high or too low. The LM22673EVAL/NOPB is designed to be easy to use and setup, with little or no external components required. The board offers a user-friendly graphical user interface for programming, so users can quickly define their power supply settings. Additionally, the setup is exceptionally flexible, allowing users to adjust phase shifts, output voltage and current thresholds amongst other features. In summary, the LM22673EVAL/NOPB offers a simple way of developing DC/DC & AC/DC offline SMPS designs with the lowest possible output noise and ripple. Through the user-friendly graphical user interface, users can easily configure their application settings with great flexibility. The board is also rich in integrated features, providing users with improved efficiency, reliability, and safety.
