The LM2743Eval/NOPB evaluation board is an off-line switching regulator and switched capacitive power supply. It is designed to deliver up to 100W of output power in a very compact size. The board features active PFC, adjustable output voltage and current limit. It is suitable for many applications such as telecommunications, medical and consumer electronics.
The LM2743EVAL/NOPB evaluation board contains a wide range of components intended for evaluating the LM2743 switching regulator. It includes an active PFC (Board U1), a step-down converter (Board U2), an adjustable output voltage and current limit (Board U3), and an optional output capacitor (Board U4). The board also contains a low dropout linear regulator for onboard power supply (Board U5), an over-temperature monitor and auto-reset circuitry (Board U6).
The LM2743EVAL/NOPB application field and working principle is to provide a non-isolated, regulated power supply of up to 100W of output power. The board enables the user to operate and evaluate the features and performances of a switching regulator solution in many applications. The active PFC provides Input Power Factor Correction allowing the evaluation board to meet requirements for high-performance power supplies.
The beginning input power is taken from the power supply and is supplied to an active PFC stage. The PFC stage is a low power factor and continuous conduction mode (CCM) buck converter with a basic voltage-mode control. The PFC will have a reference voltage along with as many extra reference voltage as there are output channels. The PFC stage will provide both line protection (brownout) and boost stage light load efficiency for the LM2743EVAL/NOPB.
The boost stage in the LM2743EVAL/NOPB is a buck-boost converter. It takes 24V DC input from the PFC stage and boosts the voltage to the required output voltage. The output voltage can be adjusted from 1V to 24V and output current limit up to 15A. It also provides short-circuit protection (SCP), output over-voltage (OV) and under-voltage (UV) protection.
The final step is the AC/DC stage. The AC/DC stage converts the DC voltage from the input source into a low-ripple DC output. It features fixed frequency operation and provides excellent transient and load regulation. The AC/DC stage also contains a control loop which senses and adjusts the output voltage to the programmed value.
The LM2743EVAL/NOPB evaluation board is intended to provide an easy and comprehensive platform to evaluate the features and performances of the LM2743 switching regulator. It is an ideal platform to evaluate an off-line SMPS in many applications. With its small size and efficient operation, the board offers an exciting solution to many power supply challenges.
