The LM311H is a three-terminal high-quality difference amplifier known as a comparator. Comparators are used in many applications where the analog signal is out of the range of conventional linear amplifiers, such as detection of signals that cross predetermined thresholds, comparison of analog signal amplitudes, and signal detection. The LM311H is an improved version of the older LM311, a monolithic operational amplifier. The LM311H also offers lower noise and an improved signal-to-noise ratio.
Working Principle
The LM311H circuit consists of two DC differential amplifiers, each of which has their own inputs, outputs and supply pins. The device is designed to receive differential signals and then compare the magnitude of the input values. When the input signal changes from a low to a high value, the LM311H will detect that change and output a logic high signal. This is the same principle used in the LM311H circuit.
The LM311H circuit consists of a differential input stage, an internal voltage reference to establish an off-set voltage, an output amplifier and a strobing output stage.
