.LM3475MF/NOPB is a DC-DC converter which is especially suitable for applications needing high efficiency at light loads and wide range of input voltages. It is able to accept inputs ranging from 4.5V to 35V; and is capable of providing up to 1A output current without requiring a separate power transistor. Additionally, this DC-DC converter provides integrated power management and protection features, making it a good choice for industrial, automotive, motor control and digital signal processor (DSP) applications.
The LM3475MF/NOPB is a monolithic integrated switching regulator controller comprised of two primary sections: a voltage mode PWM controller and a power switch control circuitry. The core of the device is a 350kHz fixed frequency, voltage mode PWM controller with a low voltage drive capability. It operates from an input voltage of 4.5V to 35V and provides up to 1A output current. The LM3475MF/NOPB is a synchronous rectifier controller intended for use in high efficiency, step-down, DC-to-DC converter applications.
The high frequency PWM operation makes the LM3475MF/NOPB very well suited for portable dark-chargers, power supplies, and DC-DC converters. The PWM operation delivers a maximum efficiency of over 97%, while providing excellent steady-state regulation of load current, output voltage, and input voltage. The addition of a low quiescent current feature improves efficiency when operating in light load conditions. The adjustable soft-start capability of the LM3475MF/NOPB helps limit inrush currents during start up and the output short circuit protection provides overload protection for the source power supply.
The integrated power switch control circuitry of the LM3475MF/NOPB eliminates the necessity for an external MOSFET to be used as the power switch. An integrated N-Channel MOSFET is employed to provide high efficiency. A low RDS(ON) of typically 80mV allows for operation in a very small footprint. The low quiescent current of the LM3475MF/NOPB allows for minimum power loss when operating in light load conditions. In addition, the LM3475MF/NOPB includes undervoltage lockout which disables the output stage until the input voltage has risen above the UVLO threshold. This feature prevents damage to the power switch.
The LM3475MF/NOPB provides power management and protection features such as adjustable soft-start, adjustable output voltage limit, overvoltage protection, input/output over-temperature protection and output short circuit protection. The internal power switch control circuitry of the LM3475MF/NOPB ensures efficient power transfer with low power losses and provides good thermal characteristics. This regulator is suitable for applications requiring high efficiency at light loads and wide range of input voltages, such as industrial, automotive, motor control, and DSP applications.
