The LM5023MM-2/NOPB is an adaptive on-time (AOT) interleaved PWM controller designed for high-performance, high-efficiency and low standby peak current AC/DC power applications. It is designed to provide superior performance needed in high-end industrial switching power supplies with low power loss, high power efficiency, and low EMI/EMC emission levels. The LM5023MM-2/NOPB is programmed to work as an adaptive on-time controller for a wide range of offline power supplies. It produces a high-precision interleaved pulse density modulation (PDM) signal, which is ideal for controlling single or multiple isolated switched-mode power converters at fixed duty cycles. It is capable of achieving a wide range of performance targets such as low input current ripple, high output power efficiency, and low switching noise. It is also capable of providing all the features needed for a wide range of workloads, such as light load operations, standby power and other standby power-saving functions.

The LM5023MM-2/NOPB features a built-in low voltage detector (LVD), wide input voltage range, adjustable output voltage and current limits, and programmable input current limit. In addition, it includes a line-tracking soft-start circuit, a built-in over-current/short-circuit protection circuit, as well as cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shut-down functions.

The LM5023MM-2/NOPB is suitable for Universal mains offline applications operating from a 85~265V AC input voltage. It will deliver up to 250W of power in full-load operation with a single-phase supply. The LM5023MM-2/NOPB provides a complete solution for power supplies with low input current ripple, high efficiency, low EMI and low standby current.

The LM5023MM-2/NOPB works on a multi-level interleaving architecture with a basic voltage-mode control loop. The AOT main regulator enables the LM5023MM-2/NOPB to provide superior performance with minimal component count and high efficiency. The interleaving on the primary side takes effect when the load current gets higher than 4A, which results in a reduced input current ripple, higher efficiency, and a lower heating condition on the low-side MOSFET due to the interleaved PWM. On the secondary side, the LM5023MM-2/NOPB can provide a stable and high-performance output using a rectified voltage feedback loop.

The LM5023MM-2/NOPB can achieve a high level of standby power-saving mode, and it can be programmed for various power-saving functions. The device comes with built-in functions for light load, duty cycle control, and burst-mode operations with adjustable duty cycles for all the switching parameters. All these functions can be programmed to suit various customer needs. The LM5023MM-2/NOPB’s power-saving PFC stage, synchronous rectification on the secondary side, and its wide frequency range makes it highly efficient and compatible with higher-power applications.
