The LM5070MTCX-50/NOPB is a highly-integrated, high-efficiency Power Over Ethernet (PoE) controller that provides all the necessary features needed to construct an IEEE 802.3 af or IEEE 802.3 at compliant PD (Power Device) or a PSE (Power Source Equipment). Compatible with fast transient, current-mode buck and boost topologies, the LM5070MTCX-50/NOPB offers precise voltage monitoring and control, with integrated near-lossless current sensing and Integrated Magnetics.
The LM5070MTCX-50/NOPB is enabled by PSE controller pin Command (COM) and, on operation, provides excellent protection to the PSE and PD from over-voltage, under-voltage, overload, short-circuit and transient events. It does this through precise voltage monitoring and control, with programmable over-voltage, under-voltage, overload, short-circuit protection, as well as an input transient protection and a power shutdown function.
The LM5070MTCX-50/NOPB is optimized for fans, motors and pumps that require tightly controlled power regulation to minimize acoustic noise and maximize efficiency. It is also ideal for applications such as PoE switch power supplies and PD power supplies, providing precise voltage regulation and power management features.
The LM5070MTCX-50/NOPB features a redundant N-Channel MOSFET synchronous buck converter and a configurable N-Channel MOSFET boost converter. The synchronous buck converter has a wide input voltage range (7V-24V) and adjustable output current limit up to 20A. The boost converter also has an adjustable output current limit and can be configured for an output voltage of up to 48V. Both converters feature a ripple reduction circuit for improved noise immunity and better efficiency.
The LM5070MTCX-50/NOPB integrates Integrated Magento technology and advanced magnetics to minimize losses, reduce power dissipation, minimize temperature rise, and improve current flow and regulation. With Integrated Magento, the power loss of the power supply is reduced, allowing for greater power efficiency and improved system performance.
The LM5070MTCX-50/NOPB also provides robust protection features including brownout, over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit, and under-voltage protections. It also features an input transient protection circuit to help guard against the damaging effect of transients caused by inductive loads.
The LM5070MTCX-50/NOPB is designed to be used in a wide range of Power Over Ethernet applications, from deskside LAN devices to PoE-powered PDs and PSEs for industrial and automotive applications.
