When the circuit is first powered up, the output voltage is set according to a reference voltage. When a load is connected and the output voltage drops below the set point, the device automatically adjusts the voltage to maintain the output voltage at the set point. To control the output voltage, the device monitors the current at the output pin. When the current exceeds a maximum set-point, the device will increase the duty cycle of its output switching frequency, thus providing more power to the load and maintaining the output voltage.
