The LM74CIMX-3 is one such temperature sensor, designed specifically for non-computerized environments, though it can be used with computer-controlled systems as well. The LM74CIMX-3 has a temperature range from -55°C (0°F) to +125°C (257°F), with a typical accuracy of ½°C (1°F). It features an operating current of 1.5mA and can take a maximum of 10s of current when the temperature is rising. The sensor is also an ideal choice for harsh and extreme environments, as it is capable of withstanding temperatures of up to +150°C (302°F) for up to three minutes, though accuracy at temperatures higher than +125°C (257°F) cannot be guaranteed.
This temperature sensor features an integrated analog and digital output. The analog output is an SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface) compliant 10-bit digital value. The analog output is also compatible with an I2C interface, allowing it to be controlled by most microprocessors, such as the Microchip PIC16F family. The digital output is a 3-bit value that can be read from the integrated thermistor. It defines three temperature ranges: low (<25°C (77°F)), medium (25°C to 65°C (77°F to 149°F)), and high (>65°C (149°F)).
The LM74CIMX-3 is designed to operate in non-computerized environments and is ideally suited for controlling device temperature in battery-powered or portable applications.
