Power management integrated circuits (PMICs) are specialized ICs designed to improve power management within an electronic device. Supervisors are one of the many types of PMICs and are mainly used for providing reset and watchdog timer (WDT) functions. One of the many types of specialty supervisors is the LM809M3-2.93/NOPB, which is an integrated supervisor with voltage monitoring capability.

The reset signal remains active until the input voltage rises above the reference voltage plus a blanking time delay. The reset time delay is user-adjustable and allows the user to configure the reset circuit to their system requirements.
The LM809M3-2.93/NOPB is housed in a 5-pin SOT-23 package, with the pins occupied by VDD, GND, RST, TST, and VCC. It operates on a supply voltage of 2.93 or 5.5V and its nominal reference voltage is 2.4V. On startup, its output voltage is set to default logic high as well as a reset flag, indicating the IC is in its normal state.
The IC also has a watchdog timer whose period is set by a capacitor connected to the TST pin. This allows the system to detect a potential problem and issue a reset if the input voltage drops below the reference voltage or when a logic level low stays active for the predetermined timeout period.
Additionally, the LM809M3-2.93/NOPB features thermal shutdown protection, which shuts down the IC if the die temperature exceeds a threshold. To enable the reset function to take effect, the user must connect a resistor between the VDD and RST/RST pins. To enable the Watchdog timer, the user must connect a resistor between the TST and GND pins.
