The LMC555CMM is a popular timer purposely designed for signal generation and pulse width applications.
The LMC555CMM is a single timer, designed to supersede the LM555 valve and CMOS versions. It is a Dual-In-Line (DIP) 8-pin electronic component specifically designed to generate accurate time delays or oscillations. This timer comprises of an 8-pin plastic package containing the actual timer. It provides latch-up immunity when powered with a supply voltage range of 5V, 4.5V, 3V and 2V. In addition, it also has a high stability and low power operation.
The working of the LMC555CMM involves two main functioning, namely astable mode and monostable mode. The astable mode produces continuously varying waveforms, wherein a capacitor and an external resistor are connected externally to pin 1 and pin 8. When power enter in the components, the capacitor gets charged through the resistor, and as soon as the voltage at pin 1 and pin 8 surpasses the threshold value, the capacitor gets discharged and the cycle restarts. Whereas in monostable mode, a single, one shot output pulse is generated when a trigger pulse is applied. Here the timing components and triggers are externally connected to pin 2, pin 6 and pin 7.
