This versatile device is ideal for use in any application that requires a frequency control or synchronization, from portable consumer electronics to industrial control systems.The LMC568CM/NOPB is a high-performance monolithic device that can generate a wide range of output frequencies from 0.01 Hz to 200 MHz. It operates from a 3.3V or 5V supply and provides low jitter (<1 ps) and fast settling times (<200 ns). It also features integrated operating temperature range and high isolation from power supply noise.At its core, the LMC568CM/NOPB uses a PLL that has two inputs and uses two reference frequencies to generate a desired output frequency. The PLL phase detector compares the input reference frequencies and generates an error signal that is then used to adjust the voltage to the VCO, or voltage-controlled oscillator. This voltage then determines the output frequency of the VCO, which is ultimately determined by the input reference frequencies.To generate an accurate and stable output frequency, the LMC568CM/NOPB has a frequency synthesizer that allows user-programmable frequency tuning.
