Linear-Comparators are electronic devices that are used to compare input voltage signals to one another, and then determine the correct output signal to be sent. The comparison of the voltages is based upon their absolute level and/or their relative level. Typical applications of the Comparator have been in the industrial, automotive, and medical industries for use in data acquisition, signal conditioning, motion and temperature control, test equipment, and error detection. The LMC6772AIM/NOPB is a part of the Linear-Comparator family from Texas Instruments, and is a dual-channel, low-power CMOS comparator with extended common-mode range in a small form factor. This device operates from a wide single supply voltage of 2.7V to 36V, making it suitable for both battery operated and line powered applications.

The LMC6772AIM/NOPB operates with a maximum supply current of 1.8mA, making it one of the most power-efficient comparators of its class. Its low supply current, combined with its low input offset voltage and high speed operation, makes it suitable for use in portable, battery supplied instruments, as well as harsh and noisy environments.
