The working principle of the LMV7239M7 is based on voltage comparison. The two input voltages, VINP and VINN, are compared with a reference voltage set by the VREF pin. When VINP exceeds VREF the output will be Logic High and the output terminal OFP will be driven low. Conversely, when VINN exceeds VREF the output will be Logic Low and the output terminal OFN will be driven high. The output can be further configured as a logic gate by driving one of the output pins with a logic signal.

The LMV7239M7 also features an overvoltage (OV) protection circuitry that limits the reference voltage, VREF, to a value below the OV threshold and makes the device immune to an accidental overvoltage on the VREF pin. The device has an active-low reset input, making it suitable for systems that are periodically reset. In addition, the device incorporates a low power shutdown mode to reduce power consumption without having to un-power the device.
