Working Principle

The LMX2326TM/NOPB is a low power quad-integrated PLL/dual-frequency synthesizer device that operates off of a single 3.3V supply. It features four programmable PLLs, two memory registers, a low-power oscillator, and a three-wire serial port interface.The device features four programmable PLLs, three of which are used to generate output clocks while the fourth PLL is a reference clock used to synchronize the remaining three. The device also includes two selectable, programmable frequency registers. Each of the frequency registers can be used to store a single frequency value, to which the output clock is synchronized.The oscillator, PLLs and frequency registers interact to enable the output distribution of frequency-x, frequency-y and then frequency-x again. This process is repeated over and over again. The device also features a timing locked loop (TLL) which is used to detect and maintain the output frequency accuracy by locking it to a reference clock. The device is also programmable via a three-wire serial interface, allowing users to control the output frequency with a minimal amount of circuitry. The LMX2326TM/NOPB also features a power-down mode which significantly reduces power consumption.
