The LMX2486EVAL Evaluation Board is an easy-to-use RF evaluation and development controller designed specifically for the LMX2486 devices. The board features an on-board PICmicro™ microcontroller, USB access to the PC controller, full support for the LMX2486 on-board tuner and selection of power modules. The board allows developers to experiment with different configurations and access the “raw” RF signals to examine their behavior. The on-board microcontroller is configured to provide tuning on-board to allow the user to test applications in different RF environments.The LMX2486EVAL Evaluation Board is designed to have two primary functions: first, to provide quick evaluation and design verification of the LMX2486 device and its related components and, secondly, to enable the developer to take advantage of the LMX2486\'s communication features such as 802.11b radio and serial port. The board also provides an integrated software interface for building basic 802.11b applications.In order to accommodate the various RF evaluation and design requirements of the LMX2486EVAL Evaluation Board, four stages of circuitry are included in the design: input connections, transmit/receive modules, control and tuning circuits, and the on-board PICmicro™ microcontroller.The input connections, which consist of the antenna, power in/out connection and the audio in/out lines, connect the board to the environment, such as the host PC, RF environment, or PA module. The two transmit/receive modules on the board can be individually controlled to simulate different communications scenarios. The control and tuning circuits provide the ability to adjust signal levels within the signal chain and to adjust the gains or attenuation ratios of all stages. The on-board PICmicro™ microcontroller is used to control the transmit/receive functionality, provide command and control settings, and to process and store the data received from the environment.One of the main features of the LMX2486EVAL Evaluation Board is its ability to provide tuning and control of the LMX2486 device and its related components, such as the on-board power amplifier and RF filters. This feature enables designers to explore various design scenarios and apply different parameters to their applications. Additionally, the on-board tuning and control allows designers to debug their application and adjust the device settings accordingly.The LMX2486EVAL Evaluation Board provides an effective environment for using the LMX2486 device and easily demonstrates its capability. This board is suitable for both developers trying to quickly evaluate their design ideas, as well as professionals and engineers looking for a complete reference design solution for their product development.
