Clock/Timing - Clock Generators, PLLs, Frequency Synthesizers applications encompass many types of technology, all of which have the common goal of accurately and efficiently generating and manipulating time with digital signals. LMX2571NJKR is a Frequency Synthesizer which provides a high-performance, low-power solution for clock, frequency, and data generation applications.

The LMX2571NJKR is a highly integrated, programmable 3rd-order, band-limited PLL Frequency Synthesizer which includes two dual-modulus prescalers (8/9 and 10/11), an overtone/agile divider, an 8-bit reference divider, and a low noise type-IV fractional-N frequency synthesizer. This device operates from a 27MHz to 4.txGHz frequency range and provides a 4GHz divided output frequency at a maximum frequency resolution of 250kHz. Custom options are available for higher order oversampling and gated clock control.

The LMX2571NJKR utilizes fractional-N frequency synthesis to achieve a high frequency resolution, small frequency step size and low phase noise that is typically associated with integer-N devices. The device also supports PLL frequency synthesis modes which enable rapid frequency changes from a reference frequency source or to provide a locally programmable frequency output. These features are ideal for high-speed communications, wireless infrastructure, and applications where frequency agility and fast frequency hopping are required.

The device offers four different operating modes to choose from; 1) Fractional-N mode 2) Integer-N mode 3)SPLL mode 4) PLL mode. The Fractional-N mode is used for generating reference clock with ultra-high precision and fine resolution, while the Integer-N mode is used to reduce the phase noise when a reference frequency needs to be generated with a wide range.

The SPLL mode offers the highest performance and provides a fast system response time, while the PLL mode is used to quickly lock-in and track a reference clock frequency with a wide adjustable range. In addition to the four operating modes, the LMX2571NJKR offers four different working levels to optimize the power saving in different output applications. The device also offers an adjustable pre-scaler (8/9 and 10/11 value) to accurately adjust the output frequency for different applications.
