The LMZ36002EVM DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS evaluation module (EVM) is a self-contained evaluation platform for the LMZ36002 step-down switching regulator. The LMZ36002EVM integrates all necessary components required to test the LMZ36002 device in the target application.
The LMZ36002EVM is an evaluation module based on the LMZ36002 device, a compact, high performance synchronous step-down switching regulator. The LMZ36002 provides efficient, compact power conversion from input voltage ranges of up to 40V to output voltages from as low as 0.59V with output current capability of up to 2A. The device integrates a thermally enhanced 3mm × 5mm MLP-9 package and low gate charge MOSFETs. Other features of the LMZ36002 include integrated loop compensation, internal frequency setting, cycle by cycle peak current limit, and the option to enable/disable the PWM controller.
The LMZ36002EVM includes key components necessary to evaluate the LMZ36002 device for its primary application as a power management module for big data storage products. This includes a wide input voltage range of 4.5V – 40V and an adjustable switching frequency from 300kHz to 1.5MHz. An LCD display is included in the board for system information and user settings. The robust design helps protect the LMZ36002 device from overcurrent, overheating, over-voltage, and short circuiting conditions, making the LMZ36002EVM ideally suited for testing the LMZ36002 device in target applications.
The LMZ36002EVM includes an UCC28910 keypad controller and several expansion headers for interfacing with other system components. The keypad controller provides a set of eight push buttons to control various configurations of the LMZ36002EVM. The pin headers provide access to many of the features of the LMZ36002 device including the enable, the output voltage sense pins, the feedback pins, and the output voltage adjust pins. Additionally, several signal pins are made available including direct connection of a logic pin to disable the device, a dynamic voltage scaling feature, and load line adjustment.
The LMZ36002EVM has an optimized layout for use with multiple emulation systems. It includes two optocoupler connections for interfacing with external controllers, two connectors for use with DLC9 and DLC10 device logic, and a USB connection for communication via PC. The board also includes an RJ45 connection and cable for easy SVGA monitor connections.
The LMZ36002EVM is ideal for evaluating the performance of the LMZ36002 device in a wide range of applications, including computing, telecommunications, automotive, lighting, consumer, industrial, and medical applications. The LMZ36002EVM includes all necessary components and features for testing the LMZ36002 device in such applications. The board is also designed to ease the development cycles in these applications, with support for quick comparison between configurations, enabling user feedback and development times to be minimized.
