LNK605DG

The LNK605DG is an integrated power conversion device that combines a MOSFET and a high-voltage smart regulator in a small surface-mount package. This single chip device features two input sources, an on/off control, a soft start, an over-temperature protection, a short-circuit protection, an open loop protection and an adjustable output voltage. As a power management integrated circuit (PMIC), the LNK605DG is designed for off-line switching power supplies, AC/DC converters, and other applications where precise regulation of output voltage and current are required.

The LNK605DG operates in two distinct modes, which control the output voltage and current depending on the input source. The first mode is the primary control mode, which maintains the output voltage and current levels when operating from a DC mains source. This mode actively regulates the output voltage and current using a pulse width modulation (PWM) Controller and an internal error amplifier.

The second mode is the auxiliary control mode, which acts as a backup to the primary control mode when operating from an AC mains source. This mode reduces the ripple at the output by adjusting the minimum current and pulse width of the PWM Controller.

For both modes, the LNK605DG features comprehensive protection features. It includes an over-temperature protection, a short-circuit protection, an open loop protection, and an adjustable output voltage. The over-temperature protection prevents overheating of the device by disconnecting the power MOSFET when the temperature exceeds a predetermined level. The short-circuit protection monitors the output voltage and current levels and disconnects the power MOSFET when the output is short-circuited. The open loop protection monitors the load current flowing through the output terminals and disconnects the power MOSFET when the current drops below a preset threshold. The adjustable output voltage feature enables the output voltage to be adjusted within a predetermined range to suit the application.

In addition, the LNK605DG also features a soft start function which limits the inrush current of the power supply during startup. This feature limits the stress on the components of the power supply and ensures a higher-quality performance.
