Under the action of this electric field, the positive ions of the electrolyte form a surface charge on the dielectric anode oxide film and generate an electric field that is in the opposite direction of the external electric field. This is the opposite of the electric field generated by the positive ions of the electrolyte, causing the optical properties of the capacitor to change.
