Aluminum electrolytic capacitors are electronic components used for storing and releasing electric energy. They are also known as electric double-layer capacitors or electrolytic capacitors. These capacitors are constructed in a cylindrical shape with positive and negative protruding pins. LNU2H222MSEG capacitors are built with a combination of aluminum and titanium, and generally rated for operating voltage ranging from 8 to 66 volts. They have a high temperature operating rating of +105°C and a capacitance range of 10 to 100µF. They are ideal for use in multiple AC or DC applications and feature a high ripple current capability and low ESR, offering excellent reliability and higher rated voltages. The LNU2H222MSEG is designed with a special dielectric and enables higher than normal operating temperature rating, compensating for environmental temperature and aging. This ensures that the capacitance stability and reliability of the capacitors is maintained for a longer period of time.The aluminum electrolytic capacitors are constructed of two electrodes and a separator that is filled with an electrolyte. When connected to a circuit, the negative electrode attracts positive ions from the electrolyte, which then migrate to the positive electrode. The capacitance is then formed by the electrical charges between the two electrodes.The main advantages of aluminum electrolytic capacitors are their high capacitance, low price, and miniaturization potential. They are often used as input and output filters in power supplies, as well as for motor start/stop applications. They are also used in a variety of applications, including audio-frequency circuits, pulse generators, television sets, and multi-regulators.Even though aluminum electrolytic capacitors are the most popular and economical option, they do have their drawbacks. In particular, they exhibit a leaky capacitance due to the electrolyte chemical reaction. This causes the capacitance to gradually decrease over time until it reaches a low value, usually about 75% of the original capacitance. This decrease is also dependent on the environmental temperature, humidity, and other factors. Another disadvantage is the high equivalent series resistance (ESR) of these capacitors, which reduces their performance in high-current applications.Despite the drawbacks, aluminum electrolytic capacitors are still highly popular due to the high capacitance, low cost, and size. The LNU2H222MSEG is a prime example of this, offering high voltage ratings, excellent ripple current capability, and low ESR. They are particularly advantageous for applications that require long-term reliability and stability of the capacitance.
